Fruity Fun

I did these up for my dear friend Theresa, who at the last minute had to have surgery and have these done for her daughters gymnastics team all on the same weekend. Talk about a stressed out mom!

I was so thankful I could help out. With all that was going on in her family I had a bit of fruit left over and made her, her own  special bouquet too. I am so excited with the way it turned out and able to share them with you to.

Here is a close up of the cantaloup rine "leaves" and fruit flowers. After cutting off the fruit, I simply used a knife to cut out a shape of leave and then carved the center line. It was really quite simple and I didn't have to try to many times to get it to come out the way I visioned it.

The team members each got a fruit bouquet trophy. It even had team color candy suckers in it too.

Therese's husband had already glued in Styrofoam into each of the trophies. All I had to is cover the foam with foil. I used cookie cutters to cut the fruit out for the star and flower shapes and a melon baller for the flower centers. The rest was was just building fruit kabobs and arranging them.

What a fun project to do. It was great putting my long ago learned flower shop experience in to making fruit bouquets. If you want to try this at home, be sure to set aside some extra time. It took me about 4 hours, but I did have 10 trophies to create.

Yes, update on Theresa. Surgery was postponed that weekend, and more tests were ran, but since then she has had the surgery and recovering well. Praise God!
